Bauer’s 2016 Nexus protective line brings players a traditional, or classic, fit. This means that the shin guards have a high-volume fit both over the knee and through the lower portion of the shin. Nexus protective gear provides ultimate coverage with controlled movement.
The 1N shin guards are Bauer’s top-of-the-line model in the Nexus line and will provide players with a pro level of protection, thanks to Seven+ Technology in the calf guard. This molded foam technology specializes in multiple impact management and is able to withstand repeated impacts and hold its natural shape. 1N shin guards are best suited for players who block shots and finish checks.
Bauer Nexus 1N shin guards are the most comfortable, flexible, and mobile shin guards in the line because of the 2-strap Tune Fit adjustable strapping system and wrap around anchor strap. Tune Fit provides a wider range of adjustability, allowing for a customized and secure fit. Bauer also incorporates high-density (HD) foams throughout the thigh protector and main liner and mid-density (MD) foam in the knee wing for the highest level of protection possible.
The 1N is the only Nexus shin guard that offers the 37.5® Liner. This liner is made of a new, breathable fabric that accelerates the sweat evaporation process by maximizing air flow through the equipment in key heat zones. This causes the pads to stay dryer and lighter during play because they won’t be absorbing sweat.
Bauer Nexus 1N shin guards have the most comparable fit style to CCM Ultra Tacks or Warrior Alpha QX shoulder pads.

Sizing Guidelines: Shin guards are measured best while the player is sitting. Using shin guards that are either too long or too short will result in the knee or instep being exposed and unprotected. Shin guards should be secured with shin guard straps or tape. To fit properly, first determine the level of play. Next, measure from the center of the kneecap to the top of the skate boot. Last, match the player’s shin size to the inches of shin guard.
